Boost your vintage collection with this very rare “Leedy Autograph of the Stars” snare drum. It measures 8″ x 14″ and puts out a full and “fat” charsimatic tone. Featured are Leedy’s 3-point extended throwoff and extended butt end (butt is chrome plated). We’ve installed a matched set of era-correct nickel plated rods as tasteful replacements of the original ones. There are three small filled holes where an unoriginal muffler was removed (photo #6)) and one small hole is covered up by the throwoff. The nickel finish and wrap are scratch-free. Condition of this drum is very good.

HIGH QUALITY CONTROL: We have inspected and tested all acoustical, structural and functional aspects of this snare drum according to our strict quality control standards: included are checks for alignment issues, binding, friction, slipping, bends, twists, cracks, manufacturer defects, loose joints, stripped threads, cosmetics and more.  The throwoff moves smoothly and easily.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND (the below excerpt is from Vintage Drum Center’s original article published by Reverb entitled “The Top Ten Collectible Vintage Snare Drums”.

“The Leedy Drum Company used their roster of endorsers in a way that had never been done. They laid out 212 endorser autographs in a geometric grid strewn with five-pointed white stars, then overlaid that design on a background of blue Pyralin plastic. They named it “Autograph of the Stars.” Leedy’s 1941 catalog touted that drums adorned with the finish would lend “. . . more personality, punch, character, and pride of ownership than any . . . ever before.” Yet few were made making them extremely rare. It’s unknown whether lack of popularity or intentionally limited production was the reason.”
